Welcome to Saffa Café, a delightful corner of Wellington Central, where South African culinary traditions meet modern café culture. Nestled at 80 Willis Street, this café is your passport to a world of rich flavors, vibrant aromas, and an atmosphere filled with warmth and hospitality. Whether you're grabbing a quick coffee or settling in for a leisurely brunch, Saffa Café promises an experience that will linger in your memory long after your visit.

Upon entering, guests are enveloped by the comforting scents of freshly brewed coffee and the enticing spices that hint at the unique offerings on the menu. The café’s interior is cozy and welcoming – a perfect retreat from the bustle of city life. The seating invites you to relax and indulge in conversations over a great meal or your favorite brew.

Saffa Café shines with its range of delectable options. Coffee enthusiasts will feel right at home with perfectly crafted beverages including the robust Americano (NZ$5.00), velvety Flat White (NZ$5.50), and indulgent Mocha (NZ$5.50). Each sip promises a burst of flavor, beautifully extracted by experienced baristas who prioritize quality and freshness.

The stars of Saffa Café, however, are undoubtedly the Vetkoek – a traditional South African fried bread that offers a taste of home to many. Customers rave about the Curry Mince Vetkoek (NZ$14.50), bursting with flavor, and the Cape Gatsby (NZ$18.50), a hearty meal filled with love and spices. For a casual snack, the Plain Vetkoek (NZ$4.00) is a must-try, while the Chicken Mayo dish (NZ$14.00) showcases the café’s knack for comfort food. A highlight is the fried potato samosas—each flavorful bite is a reminder of the café’s ability to balance tradition with taste.

But it doesn't stop there; guests are equally enamored with the added touches, like biltong, which has earned high praise for being “top notch” and full of flavor, making it a perfect companion to your coffee. With glowing reviews from loyal patrons like Paul and Jm Cordero, it's clear that Saffa Café stands out not just for its food but also for its attentive service and value for money.

Nestled slightly away from the busy street front, Saffa Café is indeed a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. Rozanne Pelser captures this sentiment perfectly, expressing excitement for the fabulous atmosphere and hoping for even more homemade treats to come. As you leave, you’ll find yourself already planning your next visit—a testament to the café’s charm and culinary prowess.

So, whether you're a local or a traveler exploring Wellington, take a moment to indulge in the unique African flavors at Saffa Café. It's more than just a meal; it's a heartfelt culinary journey that pays homage to cherished South African recipes, served with a side of exceptional service that’ll keep you coming back for more.

A little gem that is a bit hidden from the street front but once you find it you’ll be delighted! Ps I really hope they start serving their own homemade Red Cappacinos with honey.

My first time trying vetkoek and it was awesome. Had it as a chicken sandwich and will be back for more. Their slap chips are served soggy (not crispy like NZ chips) and have a delightful hit of vinegar and salt added. Yum. Will be recommending to all my South African coworkers.
